Duane Nature Trail Improvements

The Town of Duane has made many improvements to the existing hiking and cross country trails behind the Duane Church over the Summer of 2010. The first thing visitors willl notice is the Adirondack inspired sign painted by Ned Sr.. The trail surfaces have been leveled and widened. The 1/4 mile hike to a observasion deck is nearly complete. The trail is now handicapped accessable including the ramp to the observation area and picnic table. Just follow the yellow trail markers to the picturesque pond.
Bell Completed at Duane Church

The church bell was removed as a precautionary measure (lots of weight, high up in an old steeple) by John Hutchins. Ned Lemieux Sr. designed and completed a stone base that would resemble the stone in the foundation of the building. The next step is a roof that will mimic the shape of the steeple roof--well depending on public opinion. Ned plans on doing a sketch of this proposal for the next newsletter and asking "what the people think". Below are pictures of the plaque and location of the bell at the church.
